Illinois' Trusted Debt Collection Agency

We're not like your stereotypical collection agency. You know the type - they use high-pressure tactics or implications of quasi-legal activities to frighten or threaten consumers who have fallen behind on payments. Not only are these tactics illegal and unethical, they're also ineffective.

Midstate Collection Solutions understands and empathizes with the situations our clients' consumers are in, and so we operate with courteousness as our main policy for debt collection in IL. We work with each consumer on an individual basis, beginning with a script to ensure consistency and then move into a more personalized conversation. This allows us to increase consumer satisfaction, maintain our clients' professional image, and increase the amount of debt we are able to recover.

We make people feel good about paying their debt. It’s our philosophy of making consumers feel better at the end of our phone call than they did at the beginning. We collect consciously because we care considerably.

We are a professional organization dedicated to establishing long-term relationships with our clients. Our goal is to collect their past due receivables in a timely and honest manner through positive communication, integrity, and accountability. Midstate is proud to be a certified Women’s Business Enterprise with the Small Business Administration in Illinois.

Our organization and our vendors maintain strict compliance with the FDCPA, TCPA, PCI, FERPA, HIPAA, and the recently-enacted 501(r) regulations. Every Midstate employee undergoes FDCPA training designed by ACA International before they begin interacting with consumers. We utilize a managed IT firm, along with our own in-house IT staff, to guard and secure our network and computer systems to ensure the safety and security of our clients’ and consumers’ information at all times.

More About What Makes Midstate Collections Different

Our Debt Collection Process

Once we receive an account, we take care of further communication with the consumer, freeing your staff to direct time and resources on important daily functions. After the consumer agrees to pay in full or set up a payment arrangement, we will directly process their credit card, debit card, ACH transaction, mail-in, or in-person payment.

We will then remit the amount due to your office at the conclusion of the monthly statement cycle.  We are here to help alleviate the burden of debt by effectively and efficiently recovering your past-due receivables.

Our unique collection process and philosophy are what set us apart and help us maintain our high success rates.

Tips For Hiring A Debt Collection Agency

Maybe at this point you've decided to hire a debt collection agency in IL but aren't sure how to pick one. We've put together a list of guidelines to help you narrow down your decision.

Research

Know your personnel, as they say. Get to know the agency's specialty. Sit down and talk with them. Debt collection agencies often specialize in certain areas. Find out what sort of consumers the collection agency most often deals with and what sort of businesses it serves.

Trust, But Verify

You've likely heard horror stories of unlicensed and unauthorized individuals posing as a debt collection agency. Before you hire, make sure your prospective agency is bonded, licensed, and adheres to the rules of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

Ask About Skip Tracing

It doesn't happen often, but it happens enough for it to be a concern - sometimes, a debtor will skip town to avoid paying a debt. Good collection agencies use what is known as skip tracing, which means that they use and have access to several databases that allow them to locate a debtor who has left no forwarding address.

Insurance

In the event that the consumer chooses to sue your hired agency, you do not want to be held liable for hiring the agency. Get proof of insurance from your debt collector in the unlikely event that your consumers takes you both to court. This is most often called “Errors and Omissions Insurance” and is held by good debt collection agencies as protection.

Compare Fees & Costs

Like any other purchase or hiring decision, you want to shop around and see what agency works best for your budget. Depending on the agency, they may charge a flat fee or a contingency fee.

  • Contingency: This is the most typical arrangement. Most debt collectors use a “No Collection - No Fee” model and charge somewhere between 25% and 45% of the total amount for collection, depending on the particulars of the account.

Medical Debt Collection

We have worked with hospitals and other medical institutions in collecting outstanding debts and receivables. We follow the same guidelines and uphold the same standards for debt collection. We do not harass or intimidate, and we don't make threats or do anything to upset those we contact.

Our goal is to create a manageable plan to help individuals pay off their debts without hurting their financial standing or credit score. Even as a school debt collection agency, we always treat individuals with grace and respect. We want to help, not cause harm.
